Students' Roles and Responsibilities
The College administers its financial aid and loan programs, educational policies and programs, recreational and other College programs, and activities without regard to race, color, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, caste, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy, disability, or sex*, gender identity or expression. (*As a women's college, Barnard College accepts its applications from those who consistently live and identify as women).
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the College’s mission as an educational institution and a community of students, scholars, and teachers. Common goals are to protect and respect each individual’s well-being and to enable all to live, work and study in a campus community free from discrimination and harassment. Students are subject to the behavioral standards and expectations outlined in the Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment and Related Procedures.
It is also each student’s responsibility to keep apprised of Barnard’s specific policies and regulations and local, state, and federal laws.
The rules and regulations summarized in the Student Code of Conduct or elsewhere in this handbook may be amended at any time without prior notice as deemed appropriate by the College.

Crime Statistics:
In compliance with New York State Education Law Article 129-A and the Clery Act, crime statistics for the Barnard College campus for the last three calendar years are filed annually with the United States Department of Education and are available for review on their website and the Barnard College website. In addition, Community Safety will provide, upon request, the Annual Security Report or campus crime statistics as reported to the US Department of Education.
